Hey All!

So it's been forever since I've been on here! To update those who still follow me on DevArt:

I have more or less decided that posting on non social media platforms such as DevArt is not a beneficial use of time anymore and to focus my priorities on social media platforms like tumblr, instagram, twitter, pintrest, etc. So please feel free to follow me on my social media accounts above if you wish to continue seeing more artwork from me!

In other news, it has been just over 3 months since I made the decision to drop out of animation school. This may come as a surprise considering how hard I worked to get into animation school in the first place. However, rest assured the decision was inevitable. Being in animation school quickly taught me that I do not enjoy the actual act of animating itself. On the contrary, I seem to enjoy telling stories with still images rather than making them move. Hence, I have decided to attempt creating my first webcomic!

Of course I have not just given up trying to learn and improve as an artist and as a person. I have started to take classes online with industry professionals at a fraction of the cost of what I was paying to go to animation school (while also learning infinitely more in a short period of time). In addition, I have also started a painting mentorship with a well known painter in Toronto. My goal is to really get a good handle on traditional painting then move into digital painting with confidence.

On top of all of that I have been working a part-time job as a merchandiser while also working as a TA in Training at the Animation Portfolio Workshop for another year.

All in all, I've been pretty busy! It's been a crazy ride and I can't wait to see where I am in a years time!

I hope you are all doing well and that you'll keep following me on this journey~

Im not sure if id be familiar to you, we were both a part of the same forum on conceptart for Sheridan Hopefuls a year or two ago. I was Curlyfries!

I wanted to say congrats on getting into seneca
I applied to it this year, and I got in!
Im making one final attempt at Sheridan, but maybe we'll be in the same program come fall!

Yeah, I totally remember you! How are you doing? I'm happy to hear that you haven't given up on going to animation school. Congrats on getting into Seneca and good luck with Sheridan! Happy to hear that you're also considering Seneca as an option (their animation program has really been improving over the past couple years and continues to get better). Either way I'm sure we will be seeing each other again eventually with how tight nit this industry is.

Good luck and thanks for messaging :)

I've been well! Thank you~ Been drawing alot x)
How do you like the program so far? I hear they teach you alot in first year.
Do they tell you about studios that are hiring or have people come in for interviews or anything?

I think the program is great for animation! There is a huge focus on really nailing fundamentals in first year and you learn all the basics of drawing, film language, composition, design, etc. They have studios coming in all the time (some people from Ubisoft came just last week) so there's plenty of ways to make connections and give out portfolios. We also had storyboard artist Steve Wolfhard (who boards for Adventure Time) come in for an interview during our first semester.
